Latest Luxury Portfolio magazine celebrates the art of making

A new issue of Luxury Portfolio magazine, the publication of Luxury Portfolio International, is out now.

Articles in Volume 14, Issue 2, explore craftsmanship in the myriad of ways it manifests within the luxury space, from entire towns to exquisite interiors and travel itineraries to high-end hobbies.

“In this edition of Luxury Portfolio, we wanted to find out how luxury is made,” said Lisa Klein Powers, managing editor of the magazine. “That can mean so many things: building communities, handcrafting quality goods, planning perfect trips or creating a full life to be enjoyed.”

Making good

As in every issue, columnists from different luxury sectors discuss their area of expertise – and the workmanship involved in what they do. Paul Boomsma talks pairing high-end real estate with sustainability; Joyce Romanoff unveils the artistry in the handcrafted wallcoverings of Maya Romanoff; Wendy Burk of Cadence writes about how travel advisors can make any holiday better; and Chef Tom Goetter of Scenic Cruises helps you plan the perfect seasonal party menu.

Luxury Portfolio International flaunts its area of expertise, too. Properties featured in the new issue include a historic townhome in London, a Moroccan-style estate in the California desert, a golf-resort haven in Spain and a surfer’s paradise of a home in Hawaii.

Real estate features spotlight two very different lifestyles and how they are created: the Hollywood glamour of Beverly Hills and the laid-back, nature-filled charm of hobby ranches and farms.

When it comes to a home’s interior, nowhere is the craft of design better showcased than the gorgeous space by New York-based Corey Damen Jenkins on the magazine’s cover. Inside, Mr. Jenkins and several other designers give tips on how to decorate around major, showstopping pieces like large-scale art or antique furniture.

Other design-related pieces delve into bedrooms built for rest and sleep, and the history of artisanship at Steinway & Sons pianos, where each instrument is still made mostly by hand.

There is travel inspiration aplenty, with trips to suit any interest: hiking on the Caribbean island of Saba, family-style truffle hunting in Italy and opulent nights spent at historic opera houses.

Back at home, the editorial takes readers into the world of bonsai and the makings of a crossword puzzle. Plus, a shopping section of aprés ski-inspired items shows off the skills of the world’s finest brands.

“The quality and story behind homes, goods and experiences that are expertly crafted with a human touch simply can’t be matched – and are a mark of true luxury,” Ms. Powers said. “This issue celebrates those who make it happen.”

Luxury Portfolio magazine is published biannually and distributed through the organization’s global network of independent real estate brokerages, airport lounges, and Barnes & Noble stores and other newsstands in the United States and Canada.
